Ketogenic and low carb diets are all the rage these days, and for good reason. Overly carb-loaded diets cause a slew of health issues that have led many people to reduce their carb intake and move to a diet where a larger portion of their calories comes from fat. The trick is to get calories from healthy sources of fat instead of sweets and unhealthy foods. A staple of these kinds of diets is bulletproof coffee.
Bulletproof coffee – sometimes called keto coffee – comes in many varieties, but they all have one thing in common: butter. The simplest version of bulletproof coffee is black coffee with a lump of butter in it. That’s it. Understandably, some people don’t find it very appealing, and that’s where weight loss coffee comes in. Many companies have started making weight loss coffee focused on bringing better-tasting bulletproof coffee to people on keto diets.
In this guide, we’re going to take you through the 10 best weight loss coffees available today. If you want to like bulletproof coffee but didn’t love the taste, check out these reviews for some equally effective – but better tasting – options!

The 10 Best Weight Loss Coffees – Reviews 2020
1. Rapid Fire Hazelnut Ketogenic Coffee – Best Overall
Our favorite weight loss coffee comes from Rapid Fire. Their coffee uses grass-fed butter, is packed with medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) from coconut oil, and best of all…it tastes great! Hazelnut flavor and a touch of Himalayan salt make this coffee a delicious treat in addition to a healthy alternative to sweetened coffee with milk or cream.
This is instant coffee, which makes it a breeze to prepare. Rather than brewing a pot of coffee and adding butter, you can just add a few tablespoons to water, stir, and be out the door. We’ve found that it mixes better with hot water than cold, but it just takes more effort to blend with cold water. The convenience of instant coffee makes it great as pre-workout fuel, and the high fat, low carb content won’t leave you feeling lethargic.
One thing we’re not crazy about is the price. You don’t get very much in one container, and you’re paying almost entirely for convenience. We could buy each ingredient separately and make our own batches for far cheaper. Still, having everything in one package is very convenient and makes it easier to stick to the diet.
2. Skinny Boost Skinny Coffee – Best Value
Skinny Boost’s Skinny Coffee stands out from other weight loss coffees in a few ways. First, it comes in three flavors – original, chocolate, and vanilla – that are all delicious. And second, it’s not super expensive. We think this coffee is very reasonably priced, especially when you consider what’s in it.
This coffee is packed with 100% natural ingredients designed to help you lose weight. It’s keto-friendly, vegan, and fits in paleo diets, so skinny coffee is a great option no matter what your dietary restrictions are. Besides the 100% Arabica coffee, there is also green tea extract and L-carnitine, both compounds that suppress appetite and promote weight loss.
Even though we like the taste, we don’t love how thin-bodied it is. We don’t expect instant coffee to hold up compared to fancy specialty blends, but even with measured expectations, this one felt a little lacking in body. It’s not enough to completely turn us away, but it does take away from the excellent flavor. The bottom line is Skinny Coffee is very tasty, and the best weight loss coffee for the money.
3. Lean Joe Bean Instant Keto Coffee – Premium Choice
If you are looking for a weight loss coffee and have a little extra money to spend, Lean Joe Bean is definitely worth a look. Besides having our favorite name on this list, Mean Joe Bean is designed with a focus on weight loss. It’s made with a proprietary blend of ingredients that have been shown to reduce cravings and increase weight loss, which is something you literally can’t get anywhere else.
Another benefit of Mean Joe Bean is that it’s calorie-free, which means it fits in practically any diet. It also comes in individual packets that are very convenient to carry and use, but also are responsible for the elevated price. It is very expensive, and even though it is well designed and easy to use, it might be too much for some people.
The taste is passable but not great. We’re ok with skimping on the flavor given that the primary focus of this coffee is weight loss. It’s certainly drinkable, but it won’t be winning any awards any time soon, either.
4. EVOWELL Keto Brown Coffee
Evowell Keto Brown Coffee is a no-nonsense weight loss coffee at its finest. It contains grass-fed butter, MCT oil, coconut oil, and caffeine. That’s it. Such a simple blend of ingredients is a welcome change from other keto coffees and gives you the peace of mind of knowing where it fits into your personal diet.
This is our favorite tasting weight loss coffee by a decent margin. It also has a much more present mouthfeel, which is impressive for an instant coffee blend like this. Again, it won’t be mistaken for a high-end specialty coffee, but it tastes pretty good for keto coffee.
It doesn’t crack our top three, mostly because of its price. It is very similar to Rapid Fire’s offering, but it’s a bit more expensive, and while the flavor is good, it isn’t so much better that the increased price is worth it. It mixes well into water without a trace of clumping.
If you’ve tried other weight loss coffees but haven’t liked the taste of them, try Evowell. Even though it’s pricier, the bottom line is you’re more likely to drink it if you like the taste, so it might be worth it for you.
5. SOLLO Dark Roast Weight Loss Coffee
Most weight-loss coffees don’t put much attention into the coffee so they can focus on weight loss. SOLLO stands out from the crowd by basing their weight loss coffee on a dark roast. This gives them a unique flavor that is closer to regular coffee, which we like a lot.
We also like that this one comes in K-cups. Instant coffee is convenient, but K-cups are almost as convenient and don’t need to be stirred by hand. This is perfect if you have a pod-style coffee machine at home and also makes it easy to bring to work if your office has a compatible machine.
SOLLO has included organic garcinia cambogia extract and green coffee beans extract, both of which have been shown to help promote weight loss. The caffeine content is a little low at around a third of a regular cup of coffee. This is disappointing if you’re looking to replace your morning cup with it. Caffeine is also a natural appetite suppressant, so the decision to limit the caffeine baffles us.
6. FIT AND FOCUSED Fat Burning Coffee
Fit and Focused Fat Burning coffee is made from 100% Arabica Colombian beans and infused with green tea, which helps you feel satiated and curbs cravings. It has zero calories, so it’s a good choice regardless of what diet you’re following.
We really like that the coffee isn’t instant for a change and tastes just like regular coffee. Adding green tea extract doesn’t affect the flavor at all but still gives it a fat-burning boost. However, compared to some of the other weight-loss coffees, this one is a bit lacking. They describe it as being “filled with antioxidants,” but without any further detail, we’re not sure what that means.
Caffeine is a natural appetite suppressant, and coupling that with the metabolism-boosting of green tea extract makes a solid weight loss coffee. We’re not sold on the price, which is significantly higher than we expected. Still, having a weight loss blend that isn’t made from instant coffee is very refreshing, and if that’s important to you, it’s worth a little bit extra.
7. Naturegift Weight Loss Diet Instant Coffee
In sharp contrast to the Fit and Focused coffee, Naturegift has designed a weight loss coffee that doubles as a multivitamin. Seriously, the ingredients list includes a long list of B vitamins, minerals, and ginseng extract, along with the expected coffee and non-dairy creamer. If you’re looking for an all-in-one coffee dietary supplement combo, this might fit the bill, but it is a bit much for us.
We also weren’t impressed with the taste. With so many things added to this coffee, it’s hard to tell what might be causing the funny aftertaste, but we know we don’t like it very much. In addition, the coffee is only listed as “coffee.” There is no indication of what kind of coffee it might be or where it’s from, which raises concerns over the quality.
You might be wondering why we included it then. After some contemplation, we concluded that this coffee has its place as a unique dietary supplement packaged as coffee. Putting our dislike of the taste aside, if you want to get some extra vitamins and minerals in your diet without swallowing a pill, this is a good option.
8. Maximum Slim Premium Organic Coffee
Maximum slim premium organic coffee is an instant coffee blended with green coffee extract, herbal extracts like ginseng root and has 90% chlorogenic acid. Ginseng root extract and green coffee extract have been shown to help with weight loss, but the rest of the ingredients have not. At this price, we expect a well thought out blend of ingredients that all aid in appetite suppression and metabolism-boosting.
The taste is nothing special but isn’t undrinkable, which is what we’ve come to expect from instant coffee. Initially, this coffee was higher on our list, but it gradually fell as we reviewed more products. It isn’t bad but isn’t priced very competitively and is otherwise unremarkable. We think there are better options out there, even if Maximum Slim does deliver a decent product. We struggle to find a reason to recommend it over others, but it is still a solid product, just at a slightly elevated price.
9. Kupah Slim Blend Ground Coffee
Kupah Slim coffee is another genuine coffee – not instant – infused with garcinia cambogia, a known weight loss aid. We like that the coffee is 100% Arabica and sourced from Brazil. Often the coffee is an afterthought, and we appreciate the clear labeling.
Unfortunately, the coffee does not taste good at all. We think that this is probably because it arrived very close to the expiration date on the bag. Our cups were strong and bitter without much flavor to them, which is disappointing. We could forgive the poor taste if it was cheaper or packed with more weight loss aids, but it is both very expensive and light on weight loss ingredients.
We wanted to like this coffee, but the high price and unimpressive taste left us disappointed. We are big fans of transparency concerning sourcing coffee, but the result still has to pass a quality test. It is infused with garcinia cambogia and ginseng extract, which makes it great as an appetite suppressant. If the price came down slightly and the grounds were delivered fresh, this could be an excellent weight loss coffee.
10. Lean Java Bean Weight Loss Coffee
Sneaking in at number 10, we have Lean Java Bean weight loss coffee. Lean Java Bean is a dark roast instant coffee that comes in individual packets. Its weight loss blend is a proprietary mixture made from primarily green tea extract, ginseng extract, super citrimax, and green coffee beans. It’s hard to judge the worth of proprietary blends like this because the specific breakdown of ingredients is unknown.
It tastes ok, not great, and we did have a problem with mixing. No matter how much stirring we did, we couldn’t get the finest particles to mix with water, which means we were left with a layer of sludge coating the bottom of the cup.
Our biggest complaint, however, is the price. Several of the other coffees on our list have been expensive but not like Lean Java Bean. This coffee is VERY expensive, and without a more demonstrably effective formula and better taste, we would not be happy spending this much on a weight loss coffee regularly.
We’ve gone through the individual weight loss coffees we recommend, and now it’s time to talk about what to look for, in general, when shopping for weight loss coffee.
If you’re in the market for weight loss coffee, the most important thing to pay attention to is what’s in the coffee. Weight loss supplements are a very competitive business, and unfortunately, this means that some companies will pad their ingredients list with unnecessary additives to make their product sound impressive. The best defense against these tactics is knowing what you’re looking for ahead of time.
First, it’s important to know that caffeine is a natural appetite suppressant, which makes ordinary black coffee a great option if you’re on a tight budget. Any weight loss coffee you look for should have at least some caffeine in it.
Second, claims about weight loss and metabolism-boosting effects are hard to verify, but some ingredients have a better track record than others. Ginseng extract, green tea extract, and garcinia cambogia all have evidence supporting their weight-loss claims. While many studies are far from conclusive, ingredients like these with some backing to them are better investments than some of the more unusual blends.
And finally, if you’re looking for more of an overall dietary supplement, consider coffee that has extra vitamins and minerals. Your overall diet goes a long way towards helping you lose weight. Even if weight loss coffee can give you a boost, you also need a well-rounded and balanced diet to start. If you have a hard time getting the recommended daily number of vitamins in your diet, coffee with added vitamins is a great option to consider.
Unfortunately, most weight lost coffees are made from instant coffee, which leaves them lacking in the flavor department. Our bar was set pretty low, and we were still disappointed in some of these coffees. If taste is a primary concern for you, look for ordinary ground coffee rather than the instant variety.
It can be hard to find information about the origin and make-up of the coffee in weight loss coffees, but if you look for options that clearly identify where their coffee is sourced from, you have a better chance of getting a high-quality product. Coffees that only say one of the ingredients is “coffee” makes us raise an eyebrow.
On the other side of the aisle from taste is convenience. There is something to be said for throwing a packet of instant keto coffee in your gym bag in the morning. Being able to whip up a batch of instant coffee anywhere makes you more likely to stick with the habit and attain your goals. In general, the more convenient instant coffee lacks in flavor but makes up for it with how easy it is to use on the go.
It ultimately comes down to personal preference, whether taste or convenience is more important to you. If you want to be able to make weight loss coffee at work or right before working out, an instant variety is probably your best bet. If you intend to simply replace your morning cup at home with a weight loss blend, then you can be more flexible and get a better tasting regular ground coffee blend.
The world of weight loss coffee can be hard to navigate, but we hope these reviews have given you some clarity. Our overall recommendation is Rapid Fire Hazelnut Ketogenic Coffee. There’s no better option for a premade bulletproof coffee, and the price is excellent. For an even better deal, take a look at Skinny Boost Skinny Coffee. Skinny Boost makes the cheapest, best-tasting weight loss coffee we found. It’s a great option if you want to save some money. On the other hand, if you have some money to burn, check out Lean Joe Bean Instant Keto Coffee for a premium product that comes with a premium price tag.
